Anyway ... lets come to the article and lets get started now :-)

At first, the thought of owning an aquarium full of tropical fish may seem simple and easy but the tropical fish tank is not one that just needs to be filled with water and then simply add some tropical fish, hoping that they would swim around merrily and life would be a breeze for them, from then on. Such is not the case because the tropical fish tank requires a lot of maintenance and these fish need a lot of caring, especially as they can live on for years and years. The tropical fishes are not your everyday fish (such as a goldfish may be) and they are certainly more exotic and a nice species that are not only costly, but double trouble as well. The Correct Type Of Water Is Crucial There is the question of what type of water the tropical fish tank hold should. Should it be freshwater or saltwater – certainly not tap water, because the tropical fish would not be able to cope with chlorine and chloramines, which do not mix well. In addition, it is not advisable to throw in too many fish into the tropical fish tank at the same time as ammonia levels may rise too quickly and result in dead fish in the fish tank, all too soon. In addition, tropical fish may also suffer from diseases, which are just as exotic as the fish themselves. There are also other factors that need to be considered when choosing a tropical fish tank and these include getting the basic information on the aquarium and aquariology, selecting the aquarium, cover and lighting, choosing a heater, choosing filtration, gravel and ornaments, water test kits, as well as buying and adding fish. In addition, one of the most important factors in keeping the tropical fish in good health is the need to properly feed them with nutritious food. Tropical fish need to be fed according to their special needs and as there is a great variety of fish food suitable for them, there is plenty to choose from. Tropical fish are found in the hundreds and choosing one for the tropical fish tank depends to a large extent on the size of the fish, in relation to the tank, as well as personal choice and availability. As with other types of fish tanks the tropical fish tank also needs to have filtered water, gravel, chloramines and need preventive measures to ensure that the tropical fish tank does not get contaminated and the fish should also not be prone to being afflicted by diseases.

New Probes Installed.
Installed the new temperature probe for the AquaController Pro, calibrated the pH probe and installed the ORP probe. The first issue I noticed is that the temperature probe seems to be 2 degrees off on the low side.

As an interim fix, I programmed the AquaController Pro to add 2 degrees to the readout displayed and send an e-mail to Neptune Systems for clarification as the instruction manual hints that the probes are factory calibrated.

Ordered New Replacement Skimmer Pump - Eheim 1260
Called up EuroReef and ordered a new modified Eheim 1260 recirculating needle wheel pump for my RC-500 skimmer. Frustrating and annoyed that I have to keep tossing money into this skimmer, but the performance is amazing and the skimmer is totally worth it.

just done it
Three buckets today. I really hope those snails arrive soon, the dreaded algae is taking over again, and poor old sammy on his own just doesn’t have a big enough belly! The bristlenose catfish who has no bristles on his nose (podger) should be eating it, and I think he is, but is just a baby so [...]
